Ancient Science Collective, 2019 (multi disciplinary art, multi sensory, theatre)

The brainchild of Varun Lulla and Mehdi Dehbandi is a platform open to artists to come together for the purpose of crafting a multi dimensional performance and experience on stage, engaging all the senses. This is achieved through choreography and blending multiple art forms together such as Flow Arts, Dance, Theatre, Visual Programming, Aroma Therapy, and more.

The collective has worked with many noteworthy artists from multiple disciplines including BaulBadshah Madhusudan (@baul_madhu_sudan), DRIADA Performance (@driada_group), Ivan Mel Gorbunov (@antispinner), Anna Whirling (@annawhirling), Roman (@nzselctor) and Mehboob Sohel (@themysticfakir), Chandana Raizada (@unfurlwithchandana) to name a few.

Mothership Studio: Headquarters in Goa since 2020

The name Mothership Studio was chosen in dedication to the Large Banyan Trees of India. Particularly one in Goa that has served as a space of practise, insight and creativity.

Our goal was to create a studio environment that feels organic, breathable, and in harmony with our surrounding. Afaque Azad, renowned n versatile sound engineer, tought us the Art of making a Music Studio: Natural Materials based Acoustic Treatment, Calibrating Monitors, Sustainable Power Setups.

Goa is home to the tall and elegant coconut trees. The Coconut tree is in abundance. Our research into acoustic treatment for a music studio found coconut coir to be among the ultimate materials for absorption and diffusion of specific frequencies that often distort sound in small studio spaces.

Mothership Studios became a space for Creative Expression, experimenting, writing new songs, recording, while being in harmony with nature.

Xibalba music festival with

Nagara Drum Master, Percussionist, Educator and Traditional Wisdom Keeper of Rajasthan. He is a Guru and Ambassador of the Nagara Drums and Music. His natural humour presence and being is both grounding and euphoric at the same time. His simple approach and presence of mind leads his students into a very natural state to play music and be in touch with the core within. He is an honour and delight to play with. He can also lead a huge ensemble and full village of dancers when required.

Psy Folk Live is the flavour of Ikarushka music. Singer, composer – multi – instrumentalist, folklore researcher and creator of the band LELI. Weaving traditional songs from Siberia along with rare acoustic instruments and Live Electronica to create a very organic dance atmosphere is the character and signature of Ikarushka sound. He take one one a wonderful journey into the wild Siberian landscape and changing seasons.

Is a Show Production company. A performing arts, choreography and a dance crew that specialise in Fire, LED and Pyrotechnic shows. Unique and high energy artists. Performances include Ozora Festival, Shpongle, Moulin Rouge and Ancient Science Collective among others.

Improv musician, live producer, djembe. He is sensitive, pleasant and his music is quietly elegant. Music for Contact dance improvisation and many art forms connected with dynamic improv is his forte.

Care Zone

On request and largely on a volunteer basis : We participated in setting up this space with love, kindness and with multiple sensory tools. Our Psy Care and Chill Out Zone offered a team of 10 people. We made 3 spaces: for Women and for Men and for All. Aromatherapy tools, candles, ambient lighting, dhoops, fagrances, gongs, singing Bowls, ancient tribal overtone flutes, mouth harps, chimes and more. A fireplace, flowers, places to rest and homely space for anyone who entered. We also offered Water, Refreshments, Sweets and First Aid. We also found a local Juice vendor and brought him to the festival all night for 5 days to provide fresh juice which can be a rarity in the middle of a Psy Festival. There were no incidents, no fatalities, no injuries and no burnout audience. We got wonderful feedback from the audience and organisers. A feeling of home, family and tribe was resurrected and maintained. It has since then formed a benchmark and an example to follow for festivals and events in Goa.

Goa has been transient space. Change has been a constant. With an evolving audience, an ever changing landscape of people, politics, venues and a renewed sense of Care, Harmony and Safety there were growing concerns within the psychedelic community to be more organised and sensitive to bring back peace, love and universal respect back on the dance floor. A history of incidents, fatalities and carelessness been documented by the super conscious, conscious and the unconscious people within the community. Many come to the parties, festivals and dance floors with a utopian vision of life and love. Wishing to maintain the core values and meaning for the psy dance floor community some requests were made to put Emergencey Services in place as well as Proper – Serious – Responsible Psy Care and Chill Out Zones for the audience to be safe and cared for in their very vulnerable states.
